To add to the festive nature of this year’s International Day program on Aug. 27, the Manistee Recreation Association is sponsoring a youth window painting contest. This contest enables Manistee County youth to exhibit their art talents and knowledge of world geography and history through the painting of various national-theme window displays. Twenty-seven River Street merchants have provided a total of 60 windows for use by the youth.

Off-campus classes

West Shore Community College will be offering six classes at three different high schools this fall in Manistee County. The concept of the Off-Campus courses is to minimize the length of travel which students will have to undertake in order to attend a class. The basic goal is to make it easier for someone wanting either to start or to continue their college education.

Briske, fair board president. Briske states that harness racing people have been lavish in their praise of the fine lighted track at the Onekama fairgrounds and he points to the fact that several state track records were broken last year.

Beach report
