Windows 2022-08 Cumulative Update (KB5016629) is stuck on Pending Download

Greetings,

I have recently have had this issue with windows 11 where the cumulative updates would not download. I overcame this issue by;

services.msc -> stopping windows update -> Delete all files in C:WINDOWSSOFTWAREDISTRIBUTION and then start windows update again through services.

It had worked for the 2022-06 cumulative update but is not working for this current one. I have also tried troubleshooting and then restarting the computer (however this does absolutely nothing) I have also tried rolling back updates and see if it would install however all the updates would download except this cumulative update.

Update KB5016629 problem

Im having the following issue with this update:

After downloading and installing it without a problem from Windows update whenever i get to restart the pc to apply the update it just stops at 35%, gets into a loop restarting the pc like maybe 3 or 4 times showing “something has not gone as plan, rolling back the changes” or something similar and never gets to install it.

Anyone having the same issue? Already tried the troubleshooter and manually installing the update though thats not the issue.

Windows 11 Cannot install update KB5016629

Have Windows 11 (upgrade from Win 10) – cannot install KB5016629 (and before it KB5015814) – tried all MS recommendations but still doesn’t install. Have now hidden it using WUSHOWHIDE. My WINVER is currently showing Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.739). When the update tries to install it goes up to 100%, reboots and then it says, “Something didn’t go as planned. No need to worry – undoing changes. Please keep your computer on”, then it takes about 10 minutes undoing all the changes and sets everything back to where it was – BUT when I re-boot again, it again tries to install the updates and does EXACTLY the same.

Freezing & Reboot loop issue:

The update KB5016629 is causing freezing and reboot loop issues, report users.

WIn 11 could not update KB5016629 and KBKB5015882, stuck in reboot loop, then boot failed and had to manually uninstall last update…

Hello gentlemen,

Since July my Pc tried numerous times to install the two updates in the title: everytime installation failed during reboot (“Something went wrong, but don’t worry etc etc”). THe error code is 0x8007054f.
At one point I tried to manually fix the situation:
-I ran SFC scannow<…….
